Meet Our Doctors
Autumn started her career as the senior aquarist at the Key West Aquarium and then worked as an aquarist at Sea World in Orlando. She then moved on to general practice and was the head technician at a busy practice in Key West, FL. Autumn has a BS in environmental biology and chemistry from Fort Lewis College in Durango, CO. She loves to do anything outside or in the water and in particular likes to hike, ski and sail. On her days off, gets bossed around by her fawn colored Pug named Tegan.
For Rachel, living in Aptos is the perfect balance of her love for marine life and forest trails. Before moving to Aptos and joining the O4A team, Rachel worked in both community relations and fundraising for the NHL and as the head of patient care at a holistic chiropractic office. On weekends. she loves walking to Rio Del Mar beach with her two dogs Dallas & Dakota, exploring the tide pools in Capitola, creating new succulent and plant arrangements, and volunteering with Native Animal Rescue.
Shauna, Reception/ Technician Assistant
Shauna grew up on a horse ranch in the Santa Cruz Mountains where she developed her love of animals large and small from a young age. After high school she attended Cabrillo College and graduated with a degree in Health Science. While focusing on getting a nursing degree in human medicine, she worked at a local animal hospital where she fell in love with veterinary medicine and decided to stay in the field. She worked in general practice for 17 years before joining Ophthalmology for Animals. She now lives with her husband, two young children, and their family of pets including an amazing orange cat named Petey, Charger the turtle and three chickens named Wendy, Dot and Gertrude who roam the yard.
Sue, Registered Veterinary Technician
Sue worked at The Monterey Bay Aquarium with the Sea Otter Research and Conservation group for 13 years. She then was a volunteer supervisor and animal care technician at the UC Davis Oiled Wildlife Care Network. Sue worked at the Monterey SPCA Wildlife Center as their supervisor for 3 years. She then floated between general practice, internal medicine and surgery at a busy practice in Santa Cruz prior to joining Ophthalmology for Animals. Sue has an AS in Veterinary Technology from Hartnell Community College in Salinas, CA and a BA in Environmental Studies from UC Santa Cruz. Sue is an avid hiker, mountain biker, trekker, marathon runner and scuba diver. Sue shares her home with an enthusiastic beagle, a sweet energetic terrier mix and a big fuzzy cat Mina.
Dawn, Registered Veterinary Technician
Dawn has been an R.V.T. for 28 years. She received he AS degree for Animal Health Technology at Hartnell College. Dawn loves to spend her free time hiking with her husband and 3 dogs.
Dawn, Office Manager
Dawn worked for a large emergency clinic for over 20 years working reception, operations, and finance. Dawn studied accounting at Cabrillo College in Aptos, CA. She joined Ophthalmology for Animals, Inc. after taking a break to have a family. Dawn enjoys horseback riding, snowboarding and spending time with her family and friends.
Jenn has worked in the veterinary medicine for the past 8 years, ranging from general practice, shelter medicine and now ophthalmology. Jenn has her AA from Hartnell College and attended CSUMB. Jenn loves to travel in her RV with her kids and 3 dogs, ride horses, and spend time at the lake.
Greta, Registered Veterinary Technician
Originally from New York, Greta earned a BA in Biology at the College of St Rose, followed by an AA in Veterinary Technology through Penn Foster College. She was drawn to marine mammals initially and worked as an intern at both Theater of the Sea in the Florida Keys and Pacific Whale Foundation in Maui before joining the Monterey Bay Sea Otter Research and Conservation Program for 8 years. Before she became part of the team at Ophthalmology for Animals Greta worked at Oceanview Animal Hospital for 12 years. Outside of work she enjoys spending time with her husband, young son, two dogs, and two cats.
Brooke, Registered Veterinary Technician
Brooke has 21 years of experience in different areas of the veterinary field, including general practice, surgery, emergency, critical care and now ophthalmology. Outside of work she enjoys music, art, skateboarding, and spending time with her family and 3 dogs. Her four-legged family includes a Jack Russel Terrier, a Bulldog, a Boxer mix, and a cat.
